Dolan Residence More
The Dolan Residence is a 2 bedroom house plus a separate guest wing which also doubles as a breakaway space and has a unique view of an isolated billabong.
The raised timber carport and workshop has been constructed from recycled materials and helps form a natural entrance which includes a cantilevered curved entrance walkway. Recycled and re-milled timbers including large blue gum posts were used throughout the construction and have given the house a solid timber foundation.
The thermal mass comprises of 2 main feature elements in the house; A polished concrete floor in the lounge, and rendered core filled blade walls between each of the rooms. The blade walls offer a place to hang various artworks and also provide a solid sound separation between the spaces.
The kitchen dining section has full height louvres and full width awning windows to enable the space to be opened or enclosed depending on the season.
